Indigo’s appeal comes from its time-honoured processes and its variety in colour. Its gradient washes of intense azure and faded cornflower blue have captured people’s attention for millennia. Amongst Nushka’s collection of indigo cushions, the Guatemalan variety is most prevalent. Guatemalan indigos are made to be worn as skirts on a narrow width, arriving with us on a loop. These examples of indigo are becoming harder and harder to find as traditional processes are rarified in village exoduses to the cities in search for work.
