Tuareg rugs are unknowably rare and incredibly special. A composition of reed bound in goatskin leather, each rug is hand-made by the Tuareg tribes who live in regions of North Africa – Niger, Mali, Libya, Algeria and Burkina Faso. Each rug features often undecipherable Berber symbols and geometric patterns amongst the dabbled stains of the dyed reeds. There is something profoundly pre-industrial about them, from the final, enchanting finished piece to the very nature of the production process, which is inviolably handmade craftsmanship.
